Celebrating the life of
Mary Elaine "Little Mary" Johnsey
November 11, 1947 - March 23, 2016
Mary Elaine “Little Mary” Johnsey was born November 11, 1947 in Greensboro, NC and died on March 23, 2016 in Savannah, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Bramlitt and Martha Allene Key Johnsey of Raleigh, NC, her paternal grandparents Arthur L. and Hazel Bramlitt Johnsey of Corinth, MS, and her maternal grandparents Dr. Marcus and Flora Hamm Key of Ramer, TN.
Mary was educated in North Carolina and Florida. Her suggestion of “Rivers Current” won the contest to name the residents’ newsletter at River’s Edge Retirement. She entered county and state fairs with her cooking and canning, winning a number of ribbons. Mary loved cats. She was gifted at arranging flowers and loved making crafts of several kinds. Mary also had a deep love for North Carolina, enjoyed art museums, concerts, learning about history, shopping, dining out and the color yellow. She suffered with never-ending pain for at least 40 years, but rarely complained. Mary had a gentle sweetness and warm smile. Her friends will remember Mary for her eye for details, her curiosity, her strong will and her unique sense of humor.
Mary is survived by her aunt, Frances Key Lentz of IL, Sharen Wixom of GA, Jan and Bob Sudholt of MO, John Lentz and spouse Jacquelyn Lucchesi of MA, Barbara Lentz and John Hilton of NY, Gordon and Marilyn Belcher of MO and Liz Lentz and Frederick Hees of IL.
The family will hold a graveside service later at Henry Cemetery in Corinth, Mississippi.
I remember Sweet Mary very clearly, as well as her loving parents, Allene and Art. The family playrd a major role in the early years of St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. My condolences to the family. Marilyn, Raleigh, NC

Dear Johnsey family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of Mary Elaine. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones as well as do away with all causes we have for suffering, including sickness and death. Knowing this has always comforted me and it is my hope that these thoughts will comfort your family also.
